The shelter can be a scary place for a kitty. All the sounds, smells, and strangers can really stress a kitty out. To help make their stay a little less stressful, we like to put up privacy curtains for our kitties in the shelter, so they don't have to hide in or behind their litter boxes.
If you can sew (or know someone who can), you can help us out on this very worthwhile project! We have packets of most of the materials needed (including detailed instructions of how to make the curtains) already prepared and ready to go.
The curtains will be made of old hotel towels (which have already been cut to size), scraps of fabric to form the hem and extra support for the snaps that are being used to secure the curtains in the cage (which have also already been cut to size), and snap tape. The only thing you need to supply is your time and thread. The curtains do need to be sewn on a machine in order to stand up to the amount of washing that our curtains go through. It is also beneficial to have a zipper foot for your sewing machine when attaching the snap tape.
